http://www.helene-mariegilmour.co.uk/I would like to dedicate my Website to my Dad, Colin Gilmour, who suddenly passed away on New Years Day 2007 age 61.
The reason I want to do this, is that I know how proud he would of been to see my website and the projects Ive been involved in - he would of loved my Superlambanana- Petite Fleur! I also would like people to know abit about the man from whom I get my motivation, patience and dedication to carry on pursuing my art...
let me tell you abit about him..
He started his working life as a coal miner until, like many others,Cronton Colliery in Liverpool shut down in the 80's. He then worked as a black cab driver for a long time and made a whole network of friends around Town!
Alongside this, his life long passion for boats gave him the reputation of being a 'brilliant sailer and navigator'and he worked on fishing trawlers for a while, eventually buying his own trawler! He had quite afew boats over the years and I had the experience of being in a 'Nobby' race with him and sailing with all the ships and boats at the Liverpool river festival which was amazing!. My brother went on many sailing trips with him to Ireland and The Isle of Mann but I wasn't that adventurous! In later life after getting the experience and knowledge he needed, he started his own Auto Electrics business specialising in black cabs and again he gained the reputation around town as being the best in the trade!
My Dad had so many interests outside of work too, whether it was magic tricks, drumming in jazz bands, caravaning, sailing or rock climbing... he always gave 100% ! and there was so much more he wanted to do..which made me realise, that life really is short...and even if I don't get to do as much as him in my lifetime.. I'll have a bloody good go.. Cheers Dad! : )x
